HOUSE OF JOY
Residential Build
Boulder, Colorado
Inspired by gracefully aged French country houses, this Colorado home was designed to replicate a French town whose name means “House of Joy.” The challenge was to develop a floor plan that could squeeze into a sloping lot only 50 feet wide and contend with height limits that were unique even for Boulders strict building codes. Although there are only two levels to the house, occasional short flights of steps connect adjoining rooms as the house works its way up the hillside. Little details throughout the house bring the French charm to this Boulder residence like the large French doors and European architecture.
